Joanna,
I got stuck in a room, and this was all there was to read。 Not the best bird book I've ever read, but would be good for elementary research。 I would have liked a little more information related to etymology rather than written descriptions of what the bird looks like since the reader can just look at the picture。 I got stuck in a room, and this was all there was to read。 Not the best bird book I've ever read, but would be good for elementary research。 I would have liked a little more information related to etymology rather than written descriptions of what the bird looks like since the reader can just look at the picture。 。。。more
Dan Schwent,
Since hanging a couple bird feeders outside, identifying the birds that show up has become something of a nagging obsession of mine。A couple days ago, while struggling to identify a bird that turned out to be a white breasted Nuthatch, my girlfriend said "Honey, do you want one of your birthday presents early?""Is it a book about birds?" I asked。"It might be," she said。It was, in fact, this very book。 For my uses, Birds of Missouri is a really good bird book。 The pages are color coded by the pri Since hanging a couple bird feeders outside, identifying the birds that show up has become something of a nagging obsession of mine。A couple days ago, while struggling to identify a bird that turned out to be a white breasted Nuthatch, my girlfriend said "Honey, do you want one of your birthday presents early?""Is it a book about birds?" Leigh DuParri,
Loved it! Fantastic photography。 Color coded, which helps tremendously if you are a beginner because it helps you identify birds simply by color。There are maps which show what season to look for them。 It tells you calls and has odd facts that help you to tell certain birds apart。I live in the country with big picture windows and this one is now my new "coffee table book"。 :-) Loved it! C。A。 Young,
This is an excellent, easy-to-use field guide。 It's helped me start learning the common birds in my area, and I feel much more confident identifying birds in the field having used it。 This is an excellent, easy-to-use field guide。 It's helped me start learning the common birds in my area, and I feel much more confident identifying birds in the field having used it。 。。。more
Maranda,
I love this book! I bought it at my local "wild birds unlimited store" where I get my birdseed and I am ALWAYS referencing it。 I mark all the birds in the back, when I see them in our back yard! The book has a Checklist/Index that I use for that purpose。 I love this book! Ty,
Got it because of my bird feeder。 Couple of new visitors that I did not recognize。 Identified them with this book。 Pictures are good, color coded, which I like。 Pocket sized。 Check list in the back。 Interesting tidbits of info in this book also。 By the way the Eastern Bluebird, siala sialis, is the Missouri State bird。 Got it because of my bird feeder。 Couple of new visitors that I did not recognize。 Identified them with this book。 Pictures are good, color coded, which I like。 Pocket sized。 Check list in the back。 Interesting tidbits of info in this book also。 By the way the Eastern Bluebird, siala sialis, is the Missouri State bird。 。。。more
